The launch of the Susan Wojcicki Foundation was featured in a cover story on Good Morning America this week, spotlighting the Foundation’s mission to advance early detection and prevention of lung cancer.

The segment highlighted Susan Wojcicki’s legacy as a visionary technology leader and advocate for cancer research following her own lung cancer diagnosis. It also underscored the urgent need for greater awareness of populations not typically seen as high risk for lung cancer, including people without a history of smoking—especially women—and the importance of investing in earlier detection tools and research.

“Lung cancer has been long stigmatized as the smoker's cancer...The criteria to get screened for cancer is narrow and restrictive. But anyone with lungs can get lung cancer, including a health conscious, vibrant nonsmoker like Susan Wojcicki,” said ABC News National Correspondent Will Reeve.

Susan’s husband, sisters, and supporters shared how the Foundation aims to bring together leaders across science, healthcare, and technology to accelerate progress against one of the world’s deadliest cancers.

“As Susan’s story shows, lung cancer can impact anyone,” the segment noted, reinforcing the Foundation’s goal of helping more people detect the disease earlier, when treatment can be most effective.

Reeve, who anchored the segment, shared his own personal experience of losing his mother to lung cancer. “The Foundation addresses a major need,” said Reeve, emphasizing the importance of the Susan Wojcicki Foundation’s work to broaden screening guidelines.
