Lung cancer education and awareness matter.
Help Us Change the Conversation
Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer deaths worldwide. Many people don’t realize that anyone with lungs can get lung cancer, that the disease is treatable when found early, or that scientific advancements are improving its outlook. Did you know that stigma can often be a hurdle to funding, research, and care? Here's how you can learn more and change the conversation.

Why We’re Launching on YouTube
Susan always saw the potential of YouTube’s creator community to educate people and bring more voices to the table. As CEO, she transformed YouTube into a global community of over two billion people, guided by the mission to “give everyone a voice and show them the world.”
We’re teaming up with the YouTube creator community to change the conversation around lung cancer.

We’re Here Because of Susan
In 2022, healthy and with no known risk factors, former YouTube CEO and mom of five Susan Wojcicki was diagnosed with late-stage lung cancer. She was 54, an active runner, with no smoking history and no respiratory symptoms. True to her nature, Susan immediately sprang into action and brought groups together across industries to help transform how this disease is understood. Today, the Foundation carries her vision forward.

Learn More & Take Action
Anyone with lungs can get lung cancer
Yes — you can get lung cancer if you have never smoked. Up to 1 in 5 lung cancer cases occur in people who never smoked. Family history, radon exposure, environmental factors like air pollution, and professional hazards also play significant roles, and lung cancer often causes no symptoms in its early stages. But it doesn’t have to be this way. Lung cancer can be very treatable when it is caught early. The Susan Wojcicki Foundation funds research to expand who benefits from screening and to find lung cancer earlier.

Worried about someone
If someone you love has been diagnosed, or you’re wondering whether to push for a conversation with a doctor, here’s where to start.

want to help
Our Foundation does the work to screen, detect, and prevent: expanding who benefits from screening, finding lung cancer earlier than ever before, and intercepting the disease before it starts.

Working Together To Drive Change
We're working alongside researchers, clinicians, technologists, and advocates to advance our understanding of why lung cancer occurs, who is at risk, and to change the conversation. We're grateful for their partnership.
If you’re a creator, brand, or organization working on the same problem, we’d like to hear from you.
